My name is Mel Jenkins. I create whimsical spooky silhouette art inspired by monsters, misfits, nature and folklore. I focus on balancing light and dark in my work, both literally and metaphorically.
I was diagnosed with colorblindness when I was 10 years old. I can see colors but not very well. It is something that I have recently learned to accept and embrace as an artist. This, along with my lifetime love of Halloween and all things macabre, has heavily inspired my reason for drawing in black and white and using silhouetted shapes and spooky themes.
As far as what I draw, I especially love monsters of all kinds and I have sympathy for creatures that people are afraid of (like bats and spiders), so they are frequently included in my art. Sometimes little ‘ghost rabbits’ show up in my drawings, too. They’ve become a sort of mascot for me!
Shipping Policy
If you are ordering a PHYSICAL item, I will ship your order out as quickly as possible. Please allow for 1-3 business days (check store announcement for changes). It might take a bit longer as I live in the middle of Alaska and the mail isn’t always picked up at the same time every day. I will update you with any delays. I’ll also contact you once it’s shipped so you know it’s in the mail. **I am using as much eco friendly materials as possible, with exception to my stickers (most are vinyl or coated with vinyl / plastic film). All envelopes and inserts are paper or glassine. I try not to use plastic as much as possible when sending my items. **To help save on shipping costs, I am shipping by letter via USPS. This doesn’t come with tracking. I will, however, do everything I can to make sure your item(s) get to you safely. **Due to COVID, delivery times may be longer than normal for physical products (I use USPS). For safety purposes, I am using self-sealing envelopes. I also wash my hands before working on my products. For all DIGITAL items, you will have access to them immediately after your order is complete! The links have an expiration date so please download them as soon as you can. Digital prints are in PDF format for easy printing. Check individual product listings for details, and please let me know if you have any questions. I’m here to help.
